The Garden Route is considered to have one of the most temperate climates in the world. With its Mediterranean climate, summers are moderately hot and winters generally mild. Mid-summer temperatures are between 24C (75F) and 30 C (86F). In the mid-winter months (June, July and August), days are often mild and warm but when the sun sets, the air becomes crisp and cold.
It is a high rainfall area which results in the lush greenness of the landscapes and forests and the exquisite show of fynbos flowers in spring and summer every year. Most of the rain falls at night.
